The GOD Project

The religious images of the GOD figure were always the long white bearded man which we have come to recognising thru paintings like the Sistine Chapel by artist such as Michelangelo or da Vinci. I was taught the same as many other young people during my school years that we are all created in God's image. So why has God not been represented as the divine feminine  in all those early paintings of various religions and beliefs. Why only in the masculine figure and a very older one at that. I have changed the GOD figure in my encaustic paintings of The GOD Project to the devine feminine figure. The models I used were what I considered to be women who are in the publics eye or the girl next door image. The common bond being younger than the white haired bearded figure and feminine instead of the older male figure.
Much thanks for my seeing this possibility to Joseph Campbell and his writing on the divine feminine and his belief in the importance of myth and hero figure in our culture and the importance for the way future cultures will expand thru our passing on the torch of this hero mythology and divine feminine.
